FIBL – the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture highlighted Latin America as the third largest region of organic land worldwide. The national organic industry as a whole is developing in a positive manner. In 2016, organic sales in Brazil amounted to 350 million US$ (an increase of 20% compared to 2015). Increasing disposable incomes and rising consumer demand for healthier products are driving consumption of organic products in Brazil. A market study carried out by the Organic and Beyond Corporation (OABC) indicates that the Chinese market offers great business opportunities for international organic companies who want to export their products to China. The certification guidelines are very strict, but China’s consumers want safe and healthy food. In 2015, the total market size for organic packaged food and beverage in China has reached 1,67 billion USD, which makes China the world’s 5th largest market in the world by value. With more than 470 exhibitors and over 17,000 industry members, BIOFACH CHINA 2017 proved again to be the most important platform for the organic industry in China.
Growing health consciousness is the key factor driving the demand for organic food products in India. The organic food turnover is expected to reach 1.36 billion US dollars by 2020 with growth rates of 25 percent. BIOFACH INDIA offers access to the traditional Indian organic market and demonstrates its position as sourcing ground with direct access to the food trade. The last edition of BIOFACH INDIA in 2017 attracted 184 exhibitors and 9.645 visitors (together with the Organic World Congress).
