The Association of Organics Banana Producers of Salitral – BOS (Asociación de Bananeros Orgánicos Solidarios Salitral) was founded on March 3, 2003, and is registered in Item No. 103959 of the Registry of Legal Entities of the city of Sullana. BOS started its export operations in 2005 by sending 31 containers to a private company; however, it paid only two containers. This led an unstable situation in the association, the dismissal of its Board of Directors and the loss of validity of its FLO certification.
Despite this, producers continued to carry out demarches towards FLO and other companies in the valley, thus achieving that all the remarks made by FLO were solved. On December 16, 2005, BOS obtained a new certification which allowed it, through COPDEBAN DOLE, the export of one container per week to the United States. In the meantime, the association had undergone an internal restructuring process and, in December 2005, it amended its statutes. Subsequently, in February 2006, the electoral process took place and the Board of Directors and the Audit Committee was elected for a management of 2 years.Currently, BOS is comprised of 580 small banana producers distributed in 61 production sectors, with a total area of 410.84 certified hectares. The growth of our Association is due to the joint work and the responsibility and commitment to our clients.
BOS has the following certifications: NOP/USDA Certification, GLOBALGAP Certification , EU Certification , and FLO Certification.
