Palm oil is extracted from the flesh (mesocarp) of the palm fruit. The oil palm tree species is called Elaeis Guineensis. The unique characteristic of the oil palm tree is that it yields two different types of oil: palm oil and palm kernel oil. Both oils can be used in crude and refined from. The oils can also be fractioned into oleins making these oils attractive for a wide variety of applications.
