Welcome to Züger Frischkäse AG
The Swiss family business Züger Frischkäse AG processes fresh, high-quality milk from the region to produce wonderful fresh cheese products. The product range includes mozzarella, pizza mozzarella, mascarpone, ricotta, quark, cream cheese, brined cheese, barbecue cheese, and butter. Around 200 employees work at the Oberbüren site, refining the milk from more than 400 regional farms to create high-quality basic foodstuffs.
The versatile Züger organic products are made from the finest organic milk from the local region. In harmony with nature, Züger organic products are produced using CO²-neutral processes. All processes are as ecological as possible, and unnecessary packaging is avoided.
At Züger Frischkäse AG, the knowledge required to produce cheese has been passed down through the family for decades. The great-great-grandfather of the current owner of the company was a passionate cheesemaker in 1850.
It was an American uncle of the Züger brothers who had the idea of producing the still relatively unknown fresh cheese products instead of a more traditional sort of cheese. In America, mozzarella had been popular since the 1980s. With the idea of producing a Swiss mozzarella, the Züger brothers’ father, Edwin Züger, bought the first few litres of cows’ milk.
After an intensive and rather protracted period of development, the first Züger mozzarella was finally created in 1984. The uncle from America turned out to have had the right instinct – fresh cheese products are now a rising trend and becoming more and more popular.
