Having converted to organic farming in 1969 this family run-business is one of the pioneers of organic practices in the Lot-&Garonne Region. it builds up it processing business and 1982 it launched its commercial network in order to sell the products of the very first organic farmers.
Within the very heart of the Agen prune production area in Lot-&-Garonne, they were granted the "Pruneaux d'Agen" protected geographical Indication (PGI).
Lou Prunel continues to cultivate the family orchards where they grow the Ente variety of plums and to process the fruits. For several years, with this method and restraint, the company was able to extend its range to other pasteurized dried fruits, while maintaining the same quality and selection standards. Lou Prunel encourages local prune producers. It provides technical support, financial support and sustainable support.
Lou Prunel has four permanent employes and brings together around a dozen organic farmers working 100 hectares of plum orchards.
