Our company takes its name from the family castle nestled in the hills of the township of Canena, in Spain’s Jaen province in the region of Andalusia. Our olive-producing history dates back to 1780.
Our olive groves are cradled in the Valley of the Upper Guadalquivir River, between the Cazorla and Mágina mountain chains.
It is here where our family-owned olive trees cover the lovely irrigated farmland and where we harvest our olives for producing our highest quality extra virgin olive oil of classic varietals such as Picual, Arbequina and Royal.
We produce EARLY HARVEST MONOVARIETAL EVOOS, which have been national and international awarded for more than 14 years. Indeed we have been chosen as best evoo in the world by the prestigious Flos Olei Guide from Italy several years in a row.
At Castillo de Canena we nurture the tree’s natural life cycle, combining traditional wisdom with cutting-edge technology and scrupulous respect for the environment. All of the olive trees are totally machine-accessible and the groves equipped with drip fertigation systems under DEMETER certification, guaranteeing practices that respect the natural environment and operate under rational cultivation systems.
We innovate bringing new concepts to the world of extra virgin olive oils. We have our own First Day of Harvest, own smoked olive oil, a series of oils with our arbequina EVOO together with 100% natural essential oils, our Biodynamic DEMETER Picual and Arbequino EVOOS…
We export to 52 countries and our oils are present in prestigious places such as Kadewe, Harrod´s, Le Grande Épicerie, Julius Meinl, etc
