COMPANY

The company was founded in 1980 in the heart of Sicily at Naro (Agrigento), and takes its name from the beautiful district of “Val Paradiso” where the fertile lands of the family lie among white-flowering almond trees and Saracen olive trees.

We grow over 100 hectares of olive trees in the lands of Naro, Favara and Licata, using Organic Agricultural methods with absolute respect for the environment and nature; no chemicals, herbicides or insecticides are used in the fields, only natural products and organic substances.

The oil of the Valley is the result of an agreement between theArchaeological Park and the Val Paradiso mill, which has been entrusted exclusively with the harvesting and pressing of olives and the bottling of the oil under the Diodoros brand.

ORGANIC AND QUALITY CERTIFICATIONS

The Val Paradiso Company has embarked on a path of certified quality management of internal processes that involves the selection of the olives, the milling process, methods of storage of the oil, the bottling system and the management of suppliers and customers.

The quality system adopted conforms to an internationally recognized model of management in accordance with the standard UNI EN ISO 9001:2008. In addition to Italian Organic certification, Val Paradiso has been given specific and exclusive certification of foreign countries such as Bio Suisse (Switzerland), JAS (Japan) and NOP (USA), passing the stringent checks and inspections required for organic agriculture in those countries.

MILLING

The company owns a modern mill with cold extraction dedicated to the milling of its own olives. The building, with approximately 1,800 square meters of covered area, has an olive store, oil mill, oil cellar, in-house chemical laboratory, bottling plant and tasting room. The milling is done a few hours after harvest: the olives are first defoliated and washed then malaxing takes place in tanks protected from air and oxidation and finally the cold extraction method is used to ensure that the oil is NATURAL and HIGH QUALITY.

BOTTLING

The company has temperature-controlled cellars where the oil is allowed to rest in steel barrels protected from oxidation and temperature changes. The oil is allowed to settle naturally and then is bottled at origin.

ZERO EMISSIONS

Val Paradiso respects the environment and nature: the mill and all organizational units are supplied with clean energy from renewable sources only. Zero emissions are achieved thanks to mini-wind turbines and photovoltaics which produce all the electricity needed.
