TOPINA is a family business completely dedicated to certified organic products from Jerusalem artichoke (“Topinambur”, lat.: Helianthus tuberosus L.).
Our organic Topinambur products are true superfoods, listed among alkaline foodstuffs with functional properties. They are naturally rich in inulin, FOS, polyphenols as well as minerals and amino acids, naturally integrated in the plant structure.
Inulin is a soluble fiber, not to be confused with the insulin of the pancreas. Like oligofructan also inulin is a polyfructan, consisting of a chain of fructose molecules. Both are indigestible. When Topinambur is ingested, inulin passes the stomach and small intestine virtually intact. Only in the large intestine it develops its functional, prebiotic effect, since certain bifidus bacteria and lactobacilli are able to dismantle it into shorter molecules. Here it is metabolized insulin-independently and nourishes the positive intestinal flora. Organic acids are formed which lead to a pH reduction and create an unfavorable environment for negative microorganisms.
For more than 30 years, we have provided processing companies with high-quality Topinambur products like dried Topinambur ORGANIC (powder, granulate, pieces, dices and slices), Topinambur juice concentrate ORGANIC and Topinambur juice powder ORGANIC. These are used primarily in applications for health-conscious consumers, functional food and weight control.
Exclusively organic quality, highest demands on raw materials, processing and customer satisfaction as well as a traceability that can hardly be surpassed characterize our company. We source our Topinambur tubers from our own organic farming. Through regular quality controls as well as a critical selection of our contract processors, we can offer top quality, natural organic products made in Germany.
