Facts & Figures
Germany supports the development of 13 Green Innovation Centres for the agriculture and food sector – 12 in Africa and one in India (a 14th centre is currently planned in Mozambique). They are part of the special “ONE WORLD, No Hunger” initiative.
The Green Innovation Centres promote the introduction and spread of innovations along various value chains – from the field to the plate. In this context, the Green Innovation Centres are not limited to conventional agricultural methods only and integrate the principles of organic agriculture into their approach.
Mission & Vision
The world’s population is expected to reach 9.6 billion by 2050, but vital resources like water and arable land are becoming increasingly scarce. Therefore, food security is more dependent than ever on knowledge and innovation. The project aims at increasing the productivity and revenues of 860.000 small-scale farmers by 2021.
