Organic cotton seed as the name suggests is the seed of the cotton plant. Although cotton seeds are chiefly grown for the cotton thread and fibers, but these seeds are good sources of protein with 20% of their content being protein and are used as an edible ingredient in several kinds of meals. The organic cotton seeds are crushed to basically extract three products- meal, hulls and oil. The organic cotton seeds are processed to produce organic cottonseed oil which is again healthy cooking oil and is one of the most widely used oils after organic soy and organic canola oil. There are various ways in which organic cotton seed can be used as an edible ingredient and at Vantage Organic Foods (P) Limited, you will find all sorts of organic cotton seed edible products along with raw organic cotton seeds. Our range of organic cotton seed products include whole fuzzy cotton seed, organic cotton seed oil and cotton seed cake meal.
· Whole fuzzy organic cotton seed
Harvesting a cotton plant with gin can produce more of organic cottonseeds than cotton. As we had mentioned earlier, the organic cotton seeds are good source of protein and are excellent energy boosters. The produce of raw organic cotton seeds is often termed ‘fuzzy’ courtesy the presence of fiber like short strand on each cotton seed. These fibers are not cotton but are cellulose and are widely known as ‘linters’; they are digestible and find their use as animal feeds.
· Cotton seed cake meal
Cotton seed cake meal is essentially the residue left after the extraction of oil from organic cotton seeds. This residue is in the form of a solid chunk that is processed to produce free flowing granules. These granules are extensively used in the livestock industry as feeding material for cattle.
