Our organic sesame seeds are mainly produced by small farmers (0.5-50ha). The variety we handle in Bolivia is called WHITE ESCOBA and its flavour and its sweet taste are the reason why this variety is so highly demanded by the Europe and Japanese markets.
The seeds were brought by Japanese companies to South America to be produced by local companies. The production and demand increased year by year.
The production of this variety is semi-automated because it requires a lot of human labor for drying the plants after they are cut in the fields and before they are harvested for the drying process.
The semi-automated process prevents its massive production to the same maximum levels as other sesame varieties produced in other continents, being of inferior quality in taste and flavour.
