As a part of the European area Croatia has adopted the lifelong learning concept as the basis of its educational strategy, and it uses EU-funding intended to facilitate the creation of a knowledge-based society.
In this contects the Chamber places also a special emphasis on the implementation of a lifelong learning strategy. Adult education, basic vocational training and continuous education fall within its competence. All of this together needs to provide the guidelines for the development of human resource which promotes a knowledge-based society that is ready to take on the challenges of the new global economy. At the same time, these activities contribute to the assurance of permanent employability and social mobility of human resource.
The Chamber has joined the EU’s Cards projects in the field of professional education and training aimed at modernising the Croatian vocational education system by improving its responsiveness to the changing needs of business, society and individuals, including also approximation to European standards and the respective segments of the acquis communitaire.
By becoming a partner in the Tempus project Furtherance of Bologna Promotion in Croatia, it is also covered higher education through participation in the segment concerning the inclusion for the professional and business communities in the reform of the system.
The role of the Chamber as the partner in the Tempus project was prominant in its specific goals, where, among other things, emphasis was put on links beetwen research and economic development, promotion of the National Qualifications Framework, recognition of diplomas and, generally, on greater inclusion of employers and professional associations in the form of higher education and on spreading the awareness of the social, cultural and economic aspects of the reform.
