Maple Syrup is extracted from maple trees, Sugar Maple, Black Maple and Red Maple almost exclusively found in Canada. By means of careful opening up drilling the tree bark part of the sap can be tapped without doing harm to the tree. A tree always and only renders that quantity of sap that it does not need for its own survival. The sap harvested this way is boiled down for a certain period of time until it has turned to syrup that gets its distinctively unique and characteristic taste by this particular method.
