Welcome to the Leiningerhof of the Benzinger family!
The Benzinger family’s vineyards cover 13 hectares. They can be found along the Haardtrand from Kirchheim to Bockenheim and Obersuelzen.
The diverse geographical spread of the vineyards also leads to a significant variety in soils comprising light soils such as weathered calcareous sandstone all the way to heavy clay soil.
Graduate Engineer Volker Benzinger is in charge of the winery and vinification. His wife Ingeborg takes care of sales and administration. Julia - daughter of Volker and Ingeborg - represents the next generation already fully involved in the wine-growing business. As a professional vintner Julia has been responsible for the vinification together with Volker since 2007.
The LEININGERHOF is relentlessly committed to quality, because our daily work with vines and wines does not allow for any alternatives.
This is why our public appearance has been redesigned and our approach to wine-growing reconsidered - back to traditional methods. Pursuing a responsible cultivation of our vineyards we strive to achieve a natural balance. Flowers and herbs are sown in between our vines. Weeds are removed mechanically only and the vines are supplied exlusively with organic nutrients. We use plant strengtheners as our main, however not exclusive means to treat pests.
Two thirds of our grapes are harvested by hand. We carefully accompany the development of the wines without interfering too much, i.e. no more pumping-over or crushing, only pouring and transfer via conveyor belt.
We have been practicing organic wine making now for 10 years. To make this approach visible to our customers, we have joined the Federal Association for Ecological Viticulture e.V. ECOVIN. Since 2015 we have been undergoing the certification process to receive the organic winegrower title BIO-Weingut. All grapes harvested as of 2018 will be awarded the German logo BIO-Siegel.
In January 2006 our winery was complemented by our winery restaurant. You can enjoy the fine cuisine of the Palatinate in the former salon of Countess Christiane of Leiningen.
