The “Campania Felix Apple” has a two thousand years history. One of the main proofs is the painting found in the Archeological site of Herculaneum, a Roman city that was destroyed and buried by lava together with Pompeii during the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in AD 79.
The Pliny’s Apple has really unique features:
- High content of Vitamins (B1, B2, PP, C)

- Very rich in Fibers
- Great Acid/Sugar ratio
- Reccomended in diets for diabetics
- Incomparable Organoleptic properties
The crunchy flesh and the sweet taste make this apple recognizable among every other variety.
The University Federico II of Naples defined the Annurca Apples as a concentrate of wellness due to different scientific discoveries that researchers made on this special fruits of Campania Region, a true protagonist of the Mediterranean Diet (UNESCO World Heritage since 2010).
Scientists analysed the polyphenolic content of this apple variety and they found that these fruits, cultivated on the Phlegrean Fields, have the highest oligomeric procyanidins concentration (specifically in procyanidin B2) compared to the common varieties as Red Delicious, Granny Smith, Pink Lady, Fuji and Golden Delicious. Therefore, the Annurca Apples are now used to prevent hair loss and to cure gastrointestinal disorders but more important, these fruits are used in diets for diabetics, children and older people.
