As a service provider in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development and international education work, GIZ is dedicated to shaping a future worth living around the world.
GIZ has over 50 years of experience in a wide variety of areas, including economic development and employment promotion, energy and the environment, and peace and security.. The diverse expertise of our federal enterprise is in demand around the globe – from the German Government, European Union institutions, the United Nations, the private sector and governments of other countries. In 2017, we generated a business volume of around 2.6 billion euros. With over 19,500 employees, we are active in more than 120 countries worldwide.
We work with businesses, civil society actors and research institutions, fostering successful interaction between development policy and other policy fields and areas of activity. Our main commissioning party is the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
On behalf of the BMZ, GIZ supports the implementation of 15 green innovation centres for the agriculture and food sector – 14 in Africa and one in India. They are part of the “One World – No Hunger” initiative. The green innovation centres promote the introduction and spread of innovations along various value chains – from the field to the plate. In this context, the green innovation centres integrate principles of organic agriculture and aim at increasing the productivity and revenues of 900,000 small-holder farmers together with various partners from the public and private sector, civil society and research institutes (more information).
In the last 20 years, we successfully implemented more than 65 projects targeting organic production and marketing with a variety of partners. At our joint booth with the Import Promotion Desk (IPD), we will present our portfolio as well as selected partner companies with their products and will provide information on concrete funding and cooperation opportunities.
We are very much looking forward to your visit in Hall 4 / 4-561.
