For more than 35 years, Lebensbaum has stood for tea, coffee and spices of the finest organic quality. The organic pioneer combines pure delight with an ecological vision and social responsibility into a successful company concept. In recent years, Lebensbaum has grown along with suppliers, farmers and producers.
A once small organic grocery store has become a medium-sized family-owned enterprise. The purity principle still applies at Lebensbaum today: no artificial flavourings, no flavour enhancers, no additives. Excellent quality with regard to raw materials is all the more important to the organic pioneer. These are purchased from organic-certified partners directly from the source and gently processed in an environmentally friendly manner in the northern German city of Diepholz.
In 1997, Lebensbaum took the decision to implement certified environmental management and therefore, it integrated environmental protection into daily operations in a systematic and transparent manner. The environmental management techniques of the medium-sized company are still a standard today: Since 2010, production has been operating without CO2 emissions thanks to 100 % green power and one of the most powerful geothermal heating systems in Lower Saxony.
Lebensbaum is Germany’s most sustainable company of 2015. This conclusion was reached by an expert jury of the German Council for Sustainable Development and Lebensbaum was honoured with the Sustainability Award in the category of medium-sized company.
Information about the company and its commitment to nature and mankind is regularly published by Lebensbaum in its sustainability reports. The report from 2013 was awarded as the best report in the SME category in the IÖW/ future ranking. Its successor was published in 2016 and is again oriented on the internationally relevant guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI-Standard G4). Additionally, the report was tested by the approved certifier GutCert.
