Foundation on Future Farming
The Foundation on Future Farming supports ecological and socially sustainable agricultural projects in Germany. It helps driving agriculture policies forward to implement organic farming as a model for longterm future farming. These activities would not be possible without donations and support of many people and businesses.
We aim to develop a lively and forwardlooking economy and culture in which both urban and rural areas have a stimulating effect on each other. We all need good, healthy food and want to call a varied and ecologically intact landscape our home. We are looking forward to help society to get a futureoriented and sustainable agriculture.
Our main topics are:
Fund of organic seed development - The fund of organic seed development is one of the biggest promoters of ecological and GMO free seeds and research on plant breeding. We need robust plant varieties of best quality and stable yields. Fertile and diverse seeds are important for future farming. The fund is part of a progressive seed development and helps not to depend on big international agriculture corporations.
Fund of animal husbandry - The Fund of animal husbandry supports breeding of healthy, robust and long living livestock to contribute to a sustainable, ecological way of farming. An animal-friendly husbandry and integration of animals in the overall context of the farm are main objectives to strive for.
Save our Seeds (SOS) - SOS is a Europe-wide initiative to protect seeds from genetical modification and to keep its diversity. It is coordinated by our office in Berlin which organizes several projects like “genetic free regions Europe”, “2000m2” or contributing to the “World Agriculture Report“.
What else we support:
The Foundation on Future Farming promotes non-profit projects in agriculture, science, research, education and environment. One example out of many is an educational farm for children and schooling, where kids experience agriculture practice and get to know ideas of organic farming. Research and science help to examine and develop findings of organic farming and events inviting to exchange ideas and discuss current topics.
