It is said that necessity is the mother of invention. And if you add knowledge to the mix, you get the right recipe for a perfect product.
That’s how it all started for odilia partner and co-founder Saeda Abualhawa. As her kids grew up and started getting away more often with their own choices of sweets, she felt a pressing need for a healthier alternative, which could still satisfy their sweet teeth. Shopping around supermarket shelves didn’t yield any good alternatives which score high both taste and health.
However, being a nutritionist by study, Saeda wouldn’t give up that easy. She decided to roll up her sleeves and do the job herself rather than leaving her kids at the mercy of international mass producers of sweets and candies. So, she started grinding fresh dates and mixing them with pure chocolate to provide her children with an alternative candy, which is both sweet and nutritious.
Living back then in Dubai gave Saeda easy access to highest quality fresh dates, which she used in her recipe. And the resulting hand-made product worked out really well not only for her children but also for the family’s friends.
Then when the family relocated to Germany, Saeda kept her habit of doing those delicious Dattel-Schokokonfekt, which were also admired by their friends here, mainly because of their great taste and natural goodness .
Build the brand was not an easy step. It took a lot efforts and persistent hard work led by odilia partner and co-founder Eng. Saeed Altayeb. And today thanks to people trust and support for the brand, odilia became a reputable healthy sweet brand.
