Quetzal Cooperative is based in Modica, an ancient Sicilian town and it has been founded in 1995 to promote fair trade.
Since 2004 Quetzal is producing the typical Modica chocolate, the first one in the word to be recognized as IGP because of the original ancient recipe brought back to Europe by the Spanish conquistadoresin the sixteenth century.
Quetzal sells mainly in fair trade and organic food shops.
The education work with tourist, visitors, schools about awareness in consumption and global economy is part of the Cooperative mission together with ingredients quality and awareness about healty food.
We produce a fair trade, vegan chocolate, with at low temperature process and the characteristic not buttery texture. Our chocolate presents many flavours: spiced ones, Sicilians like citrus, pistachos, almonds ones, high cocoa percentage bars or traditional ones..
Quetzal works also with local almonds producers applying fair trade principles to Sicilian agriculture for a very natural, healthy and tasty product.
