It is native from Southern India and introduced in Guatemala, between 1910 and 1912. Since 1959, exports of cardamom contributed to the economic development just after coffee and cotton industries. In the Seventies, the region of Verapaces at North of Guatemala became the first cardamom producing area with thousands of hectares of plantations.

Product description: Cardamom is the dried, unripened fruit of the perennial Elettaria cardamomum or simply called Elaichi. Inside the fruit pods are tiny, brown, aromatic seeds which are slightly pungent to taste.
