Münchner Kindl Senf celebrates 100 years in 2020!
The Münchner Kindl Senf manufacture is certified by Bioland. 100 percent organic, as local as possible. This is he guiding principle for every mustard and gourmet food we create by hand. Transparency and environmental consciousness from the field to the glass. For example we have solar power on our roof, our raw materials are mostly from local partner companies avoiding the long transport.
Our story begins 100 years ago at the Viktualienmarkt in Munich: Our traditional Bavarian sweet mustard, named „kleiner Süßer“ the little sweet, was offered the customers of a traditional butcher. A little gift made by hand after the traditional recipe of their ancestors. The mustard glasses are filled by hand in small batches. But soon more and more people wanted one of these: nearby market stalls, customers, gastronomic establishments… Our sweet mustard needed a name and was finally sold as an individual product.
In the eighties Theo Hartl inherits the Münchner Kindl Senf recipes of his father and takes on the business in third generation. With these recipes he wants to provide the basis for a modern gourmet food brand und for following generations. „The time was more than ripe for organic mustard products. Based on my considered opinion producing in a conventional way wasn’t possible. My vision was a bioland certified manufacture relying only on ecology and on a health-conscious alimentation. With those thoughts we were pioneers.“
His idea becomes reality. Several recipes for mustard, mayonnaise – even vegan – and for gourmet food result from his work. We produce more than 25 organic products.
In the meantime his daughters, Catalina and Lisana Hartl, take on the business. In collaboration with the family and 28 employees the young management upgrades the Münchner Kindl Senf brand by staying true to the parent’s philosophy: To establish ties between the manufacturer and the customers and to inspire people for the treats of nature are affairs of the heart.
