The symbiotic action of rhizosphere bacteria and mycorrhizae induces the activation inside the plant of mechanisms of self-defense against the main fungal pathogens such as Fusarium, Pythium, Phytophthora, Verticillium, Rhizoctonia, Sclerotinia, Phoma.
The plant is induced by mycorrhizae to stimulate cell-wall thickening, the elongation of the root, the production of callus and lignin, as well as the production of antioxidants such as phytoalexins and polyphenols that help the endogenous defense of the plant.
