Vitaina was born from the idea of creating a healthy, handy and tasty snack, which naturally contains vitamins and minerals, without using additives nor preservatives.
At the same time our main focus is to promote organic / biodynamic and sustainable farming while reducing waste and keeping our footprint to a globally neutral or even beneficial level.
“Dried” or “dehydrated” doesn’t necessarily mean healthy. At least this is what we observed and found out after many years of researches and in-depht analysis.
Most snacks, like dried fruits, nuts and seeds are stacked with added sugars, fats and salt, and during the conventional drying processes, a big part of the “health” properties are lost.
After analysing for years traditional drying methods and the primary oxidative factors linked to them, we decided to create and to patent our own antioxidative cold dehydration process called Soft-DRY®.
Traditional drying methods:
- Frying (E.g. fried-bananas)
Traditional drying methods are developed and used to remove moisture as fast and cheap as possible without paying attention to certain important aspects.
Primary oxidative factor:
- Temperatures over 40 °C
- UV radiation
Our innovative Soft-DRY® method is able to exclude the primary oxidative factors, and allows us to remove the fruits moisture below 40 °C / 104 °F, while preserving the natural and authentic taste, colour and, even more
importantly, most of the healthy properties such as vitamins and minerals.
In fact, this process is reversible. Soft-DRY® products can be rehydrated, regaining their initial shape and making them so also excellent ingredients for numerous recipes.
