Fruit rolls are made from fruit pulp from fully ripened tropical fruit without added sugar. A tasty and efficient energy source and “THE” alternative to conventional sweets. The Fruit Rolls won the Innovation Award at ISM 2019. This makes HPW the first company to win this award two years in a row.
Production – eco-friendly, fair & successfully
All products from HPW AG are produced by their subsidiary HPW Fresh & Dry in Adeiso, Ghana.
With approximately 1000 employees, HPW Fresh & Dry produces 1800 tons of dried fruit per year maintaining the highest technological and hygiene standards under the strict quality regulations (BRC Level AA). This makes HPW Fresh & Dry the largest producer of dried mango, pineapple and coconut in this region.
The fruits are grown, processed and packaged in Ghana. This ensures that only fresh and fully ripened fruit is processed. Furthermore, HPW AG can supply their customers with products directly from the tropics and is not dependent on any other intermediaries. Ensuring that a large part of the value chain stays in Ghana.
HPW AG is building a new production facility in Ivory Coast in order to meet the growing customer demand. The facility is expected to start operations in March 2020. With the new production facility, we will create around 300 new jobs and produce an additional 800 tons of dried fruit per year, of which 600 tons will be organically grown.
HPW AG attaches great importance to fairness and sustainability throughout the entire value chain. HPW AG works with over 1400 small holders who supply fresh fruit every day. All employees have an employment contract with HPW Fresh & Dry, receive fair wages and two hot meals per working day. The workplaces are Fairtrade certified. On request smallholders receive technical support from our agronomists. They are also given the opportunity to benefit regularly from continuing education and training.
The production processes of HPW AG are environmentally friendly and sustainable, using everything from the fruit and leaving no waste. Coconut shells and mango stones are used to heat the drying ovens. Pineapple and mango skins are converted into energy in our own biogas plant. With a large solar plant, HPW AG produces energy for production with the help of the tropical sun. All production water comes from our own resources and purified rainwater.
