Les Encens du Monde - AROMANDISE is a question of vocation
At Encens du Monde, we do not commercialise perfumed incense sticks.
Real incense is the equivalent of traditional cuisine, as opposed to sticks that are dipped in fragrance, which are the equivalent of industrial cuisine.
Our incense is an expression of terroirs, history and traditions.
It is made from plants, preserving all their benefits.
The fragrances are authentic, with no artificial compounds.
They are made by hand, providing work for many craftsmen.
Real incense is an age-old product, used as an object of culture and lifestyle. It provides you with much more than just a room fragrance..
How does incense work?
The flame is not what emits the fragrance - it would burn it. A temperature gradient is at a range below the point of incandescence. When the molecule is brought up to the right temperature, it is emitted. It is not the smoke that diffuses the fragrance either. In practice, enjoy the benefits of your incense by gently wafting the air under your nose, rather than inhaling the smoke.
Most incense is made from aromatic wood and has calming, relaxing properties - rare in this day and age!
Did you know?
Aromatic substances are recognised by olfactory receptors in the nasal cavities, which then transmit their signal to the brain. The brain reacts by regulating the organism and playing poet. These effects are studied in both aromatherapy and aromachology.
Once you have understood the extraordinary potential of these natural fragrances, rid your cupboards of incense made from synthetic aromas, and complete your Encens du Monde collection!
For art of living in the home:
The aromatic ingredients in incense have an influence on your state of mind and emotions. In practical terms, you can make use of their benefits to enhance your activities, in the same way that you use background music or colours.

Woody incense encourages relaxation, calmness and concentration. Floral incense, or hesperidia, bring dynamism to the mind, for intellectual and creative activities. Sweet, sugary, vanilla fragrances are reassuring and comforting.
Top, heart and bottom notes: When you immerse yourself in the fragrance of incense, you first discover the lighter, or top, notes, then the heart notes - these are the ones you either love or hate. Finally, there are the base notes which frame the olfactive component. These expressions - top, heart - are not named lightly. In practical terms, fragrances "resonate" particularly at different levels of the body: the top (head and brain activity), the heart (affective activity) and the base (balance and stability).
