The world of trade shows can breathe easily again: A ray of hope following turbulent times as in-person meetings can be held once more. Both BIOFACH AMERICA and BIOFACH INDIA were able to take place as in-person events in recent weeks. The pleasure of meeting again in person will be experienced at BIOFACH in Nuremberg in February 2022, followed by further BIOFACH World events in the spring and summer of 2022.
BIOFACH AMERICA
A double premiere for next BIOFACH AMERICA and Natural Products Expo East, which were held for the first time at their new venue, the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, from 22 to 25 September 2021. That also made them the first trade shows in the sector to be held there again since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. And very successfully, too, attracting more than 800 exhibitors and over 15,000 registered visitors, who had the opportunity to interact with colleagues, learn from experts, and discover for themselves the latest innovations that will soon find their way onto the retail market. The signs for the event were very good: According to figures from the Organic Trade Association (OTA), 2020 broke new records. US buyers were opting even more for organic products, boosting annual turnover with growth of more than 12 percent to almost $62 billion. By comparison, growth in the entire US market for foodstuffs and non-food products was less than half as strong, at just 4.9 percent. The euphoria was also clearly evident in the exhibition halls, where the latest products in the areas of Organic,
Natural & Specialty and Health & Beauty were on show. An extensive supporting programme with presentations and prize awards rounded out this successful re-start. Industry participants unable to travel to Philadelphia had the opportunity to take part in the trade show via a virtual platform.

BIOFACH INDIA
A total of 96 exhibitors and close to 3,000 visitors – that was the summary after three busy days at the India Expo Centre, IEML, Greater Noida, Delhi NCR. BIOFACH INDIA once more showed it is the go-to event and the networking platform for India’s organic sector. The event, organized by NürnbergMesse India in collaboration with APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority), offered an extensive range of new product developments combined with very fascinating presentations aimed at expanding the participants’ knowledge of the latest developments and challenges in the organic sector. The event provided all stakeholders with an ideal opportunity to interact in person, meet with relevant business partners, learn about the latest developments and, above all, get dialogue and discussions about this growing and highly promising sector moving again. India’s organic market is growing at a huge pace, with forecast annual growth of 21 percent, from $177.14 million in 2020 to $533.87 million in fiscal 2026.

BIOFACH, Nuremberg
Activities are also in full swing in Nuremberg for the next in-person BIOFACH, the result of huge efforts by all concerned, motivated by the anticipation of being able to gather again in a live setting. From 15 to 18 February 2022, participants can experience the world of organics with all their senses, in addition to the benefits of the digital world, such as the availability of selected contributions from the BIOFACH and VIVANESS Congress, expanded communication and appointment scheduling tools, and an extensive overview of exhibitors with many online search and filter functions. The show days are changing in 2022, and will now run from Tuesday to Friday. That means the World's Leading Trade Fair for Organic Food is giving the sector and its players an extra day during the week for their long-awaited trade show visit. It also means more time during the week for sharing information and knowledge, discovering trends and innovations, and in-person meetings with their community. With its emphasis on “Organic.Climate.Resilience”, the 2022 BIOFACH Congress will focus on how organics make foodstuff production more resilient and climate-friendly, and also function as a driver of resilient food systems.

BIOFACH AMERICA LATINA RETAIL WEEK – BIO BRAZIL FAIR and Naturaltech closed on 23 September after ten days of intensive bargaining between exhibitors and buyers of natural and organic products. A total of
186 contacts took place in the context of online business meetings, planned in advance by a “matchmaking” system and bringing 44 exhibitors and
37 buyers together.
