BIOFACH World – Quarterly News Update Vol. II 2022
In June, it was finally that time of the year again, when BIOFACH AMERICA LATINA launched this year’s tour of BIOFACH events around the globe. After the original May 2022 schedule for BIOFACH CHINA had been postponed till November due to the pandemic, BIOFACH AMERICA LATINA - BIO BRAZIL FAIR and NATURALTECH stepped in as the start-of-year event for the BIOFACH World family, bringing 35,600 visitors to the Pavilhão do Anhembi in São Paulo. The combined exhibition reported a 15% increase in the number of exhibitors, who showcased a total of 772 brands from eight market segments. As well as the next round of BIOFACH CHINA (17 – 19 November in Nanjing), there will be another premiere in the month of November: The new addition to the BIOFACH family, BIOFACH SAUDI ARABIA, will take place from 7 – 9 November in Riyadh as a B2B platform for the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa). But first, the international organic food and natural and organic cosmetics sectors will gather in Nuremberg for the BIOFACH and VIVANESS Summer Edition 2022, from 26 – 29 July.

BIOFACH Nuremberg
Following its pandemic-induced postponement, BIOFACH, the world’s leading trade fair for organic food, will take place alongside VIVANESS, the international trade fair for natural and organic personal care, from 26 – 29 July 2022 as a one-off Summer Edition. Exhibition Centre Nuremberg then looks set to welcome 2,300 exhibitors, 200 of them at VIVANESS. BIOFACH World will have its own stand in Nuremberg, and at two special congress sessions, interested trade visitors can also gain sound knowledge and professional expertise on the US and Saudi Arabian markets

BIOFACH INDIA
The 14th round of BIOFACH INDIA will be held alongside NATURAL EXPO INDIA and the first edition of MILLETS INDIA from 1 to 3 September 2022 at the India Expo Mart (IEML), Greater Noida, Delhi-NCR. This triple event brings together start-ups from the organic and natural food and millet segments in what is a booming market environment. The Indian market for organic food is enjoying a strong upturn, with a market volume of USD 820 million in 2020. By comparison, market volume was just USD 200 million in 2018, and is likely to continue to increase at an average annual growth rate of 24% between 2022 and 2026.
“Visitors to BIOFACH INDIA can look forward to an impressive overview of the market and a high-calibre supporting programme of presentations, case studies and best practice examples that illustrate the latest trend forecasts, developments and challenges in the respective sectors. BIOFACH AMERICA
Following a highly successful event in 2021, BIOFACH AMERICA is already in the starting blocks and is set to open its doors at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia from 29 September to 1 October 2022. And the market conditions could not be better. The latest survey by the Organic Trade Association (OTA), a US industry group, shows that following a more difficult phase marked by supply bottlenecks in 2021, consumers are now exhibiting more stable purchasing behaviours again. As a result, organic food sales in the USA amounted to more than USD 63 billion between 2020 and 2021, with an overall growth of USD 1.4 billion (2 percent) over the year.
Sales of foodstuffs, which account for more than 90 percent of organic sector revenue, rose to USD 57.5 billion (growth rate of around 2 percent). Revenue from non-food products reached USD 6 billion (7 percent growth).

The organic community can expect a wealth of highlights, including the German pavilion subsidised by the BMEL (German Federal Ministry for Food and Agriculture) and dedicated pavilions for Argentina and Brazil. And under the overall management of Bioagricoop (Italy) and Polska Ekologia (Poland), the OrganiCity Project (www.organicityeu.com/organicity-project/) will showcase the diversity of European organic products.

BIOFACH CHINA
Due to the spread of omicron in Shanghai, BIOFACH CHINA and NATURAL EXPO CHINA were postponed from their original schedule (12 – 14 May) to 17 – 19 November 2022 at the Nanjing International Expo Center. Nanjing is regarded as the ‘birthplace of the Chinese organic sector’ and the new location proved extremely popular with the market. BIOFACH CHINA and NATURAL EXPO CHINA are expecting around 150 exhibitors on a display area measuring 10,000 m².
Save the date: The 16th round of BIOFACH CHINA will take place from 17 – 19 November 2022 parallel to NATURAL EXPO CHINA in the Nanjing International Expo Center.

BIOFACH SAUDI ARABIA
Our new addition to BIOFACH World – BIOFACH SAUDI ARABIA – is in the starting blocks, ready to make its debut on 7 – 9 November 2022. For the first time, industry stakeholders in the MENA region will then gather for their very own BIOFACH for this part of the world. Two special sessions in the congress programme will explore the issues of water and fertilisers, addressing the challenges of the local market. From a global perspective too, the questions of water resources and the lack of organic fertilisers are increasingly demanding answers.
