BIOFACH is the international gathering of the organic sector and the world's leading trade fair for organic food. It will take place for the next time on 13 - 16 February 2019 and will once again bring more than 2,900 exhibitors and some 50,000 trade visitors to Exhibition Centre Nuremberg. The BIOFACH Newsroom offers all media representatives, exhibitors and visitors the latest news and background to the trade fair and sector in the run-up to the event. A brand new feature this year is a regular column on the latest trends by futurologist Hanni Rützler.

New: regular column on the latest trends by Hanni Rützler

Once a year, Austrian food trend researcher Hanni Rützler, owner of futurefoodstudio, explores the most important current developments in the Food Report, a publication by the Zukunftsinstitut (future institute). In the run-up to BIOFACH, she will be writing a regular column focusing on the correlations between the trends from the Food Report and developments in the organic sector and will pose the question: What will we be eating tomorrow, with a view to organic food and sustainability?

Meet the Newcomers

In 2019, the series “Meet the Newcomers” (#MeetTheNewcomers) will go into its second round. This time round the newcomers, i.e. the exhibitors from the “Young innovative companies pavilion” subsidised by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) will provide a profile in which they personally introduce themselves and answer questions on what drives them, what sets them apart and what inspired their product.

Guest articles on the worlds of experience and special shows

As in previous years, in 2019 olive oil, wine and vegan food will again have their very own exhibition areas – “Experience the worlds of” OLIVE OIL, WINE and VEGAN. For all these special presentation zones BIOFACH collaborates with acknowledged experts from the respective product segments. This also applies to the “Organic right from the start” and “Generation Future” network hubs that cover the topics of organic cultivation and animal breeding and cater for the next generation of the organic industry with features like the careers centre, job market and the Organic Food Research Award. These experts will now contribute articles tor the Newsroom with insights into the latest developments from their respective fields and a preview of the highlights of the BIOFACH programme.

BIOFACH World

NürnbergMesse has proven expertise in the field of organic foodstuffs. In February every year, the international organic sector gathers in Nuremberg at BIOFACH, the world’s leading fair for organic food products. The comprehensive range of certified organic products on display shows their diversity – from fresh products like dairy and cheese, fruit, vegetables, dry products like grains and pulses, nuts and confectionery to beverages. The international patron of BIOFACH is IFOAM – Organics International, while the national honorary sponsor is the German Federation of Organic Food Producers (BÖLW). An integral part of this world-leading fair is the BIOFACH Congress, a knowledge-sharing platform that is unique worldwide. With another six BIOFACH events in Japan, the USA, South America, China, India and Thailand, BIOFACH World has a global presence and year for year brings together more than 3,500 exhibitors and 100,000 trade visitors.
