Call for Ideas

Join us in shaping the BIOFACH Congress 2027!

The BIOFACH Congress is the international platform for knowledge exchange, dialogue and networking for everyone working towards the transformation of organic and sustainable food systems. Bringing together stakeholders from business, agriculture, science, policy and civil society, the congress provides a space to discuss solutions to the key challenges shaping the future of our food systems.

We invite organisations, companies, research institutions, start-ups, initiatives and thought leaders to contribute their expertise, ideas and solution-driven approaches, and to play an active role in shaping the dialogue.

The Call for Ideas is open to everyone interested in contributing to the further development of organic and sustainable food systems through their experience, expertise and solutions.

What characterises a strong session proposal?

  • Provides a concrete concept, including a compelling working title, a clearly defined key question and objective, as well as the proposed speakers or panellists
  • Addresses current challenges and future issues, fosters dialogue between business, agriculture, research, policy and society, and presents concrete solutions, best practices or innovative approaches.
  • Ideally, reflects this year’s focus theme.

Which session formats can be submitted?

At the BIOFACH Congress, not only traditional panels, presentations and workshops are welcome, but also new dialogue-oriented formats, such as Hot Seats, Lightning Talks, Debate Stages and other innovative participation formats. Depending on the presentation format, sessions can have a duration of 45 to 75 minutes.

The programme taking place in the exhibition halls as part of the Special Shows provides space for practice-oriented contributions, show cooking events, and sessions on product trends and innovations. Depending on the presentation format, sessions can have a duration of 30 to 60 minutes.

Timeline and Process

Please submit your proposal by Friday, 25 September.

There is no need to select a thematic track when submitting your proposal. The appropriate track will be assigned by the congress team during programme curation.

A carefully prepared session proposal facilitates the review process and increases the likelihood of being included in the programme. However, inclusion in the congress programme cannot be guaranteed.

Following the submission deadline, all proposals will be reviewed and the congress programme will be compiled. Applicants can expect feedback between mid and late November.

Prior to the programme publication, we will coordinate the session description and the list of speakers with the contributors involved.

Initial programme content will be published on the BIOFACH website approximately 6–8 weeks before the start of BIOFACH 2027.

Please note that some sessions may be recorded and made available via BIOFACH’s digital channels as a live stream and/or video on demand.
